England to face Costa Rica at Elland Road before the World Cup

The last time Nigeria and England met in a friendly match was at Wembley and the Three Lions ran away with a 1-0 victory via David Platt's header.

"This is good news for myself and the entire team", Rohr said after the match against The Three Lions was confirmed by both Nigeria and England today.

His Nigeria counterparts Gernot Rohr said the tie was big enough to test the Super Eagles' readiness for the World Cup.

The Eagles have been drawn alongside Croatia, Iceland and Argentina in Group D, and with their first match against Croatia comng exactly two weeks after, the England game will serve as the final preparatory game for the team.

England will take on Nigeria and Costa Rica in their World Cup warm-up football games in June before travelling to Russian Federation.

Gareth Southgate's side also face Costa Rica's central American neighbours Panama in Russian Federation, with Belgium completing Group G.

Now, we are happy to say that it is all sealed.

"We made a decision to be strategic in our choice of opponents for the Super Eagles leading to the World Cup, and in total agreement with the preferences of the Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr". That is why we opted for England. "It's nice when we have an opportunity to take the team on the road".

In his words: "We've mostly played European oppositions".

"We want to expose the team to different styles and different experiences", he stated.
