Google discriminates against men and underpays women - lawsuits

James Damore's class action lawsuit, filed January 8 with the Santa Clara Superior Court in California, alleges that employees who fit that description were "singled out, mistreated, and systematically punished and terminated from Google".

The details of the lawsuit were published online via Scribd, which outlines the general gist of what the lawsuit is about, where it states...

"Google employees and managers strongly preferred to hear the same orthodox opinions regurgitated repeatedly, producing an ideological echo chamber, a protected, distorted bubble of groupthink", the lawsuit adds.

His lawsuit says the company's "open hostility for conservative thought is paired with invidious discrimination on the basis of race and gender" - that is, Caucasian and male.

Damore and Gudeman, who was reportedly dismissed from the firm following a confrontation with a Muslim colleague on an internal forum, alleged that the technology giant "employed illegal hiring quotas" to fill positions with its desired percentages of women and ethnic minority candidates, which they claimed discriminates against white male applicants.

Google, a unit of Alphabet Inc., had no immediate comment on the complaint.

Damore in the memo also criticized the company's continued push for diversity, and advocated for a fairer approach to the evaluation of each employee's skillsets individually.

CEO Sundar Pichai said in an email to staff after Damore was sacked: "That to suggest a group of our colleagues have traits that make them less biologically suited to that work is offensive and not OK".

Damore was eventually fired, but he was never explicitly told what policy he violated.

Pichai said he believes the memo crossed "the line by advancing harmful gender stereotypes in the workplace".

It also claimed that Google actively discriminated against "conservative parenting styles".

The suit claims that Google uses "extreme" and "illegal" practices to keep these dudes down.

"This is about changing the behavior and attitude of Silicon Valley, where now the only acceptable form of discrimination... is that it's okay to disparage, smear, belittle, bully and discriminate against conservatives and white men", said Dhillon.

According to a report on the Guardian's website, the suit alleges that Google keeps "blacklists" of conservative employees with whom they refuse to work. "In one example of this, an employee gave a Peer Bonus to another employee, and stated that the bonus was for 'speaking up for googley values and promoting [diversity and inclusion] in the wretched hive of scum and villainy that is [Damore's Memo].' The Google Recognition Team reviewed this justification, considered it appropriate, and allowed the bonus to proceed". The class action suit is also demanding for a jury trial.

While he was no longer able to spread those ideas at the company, he was now free to spread those ideas on national news outlets as a sort of fresh spokesperson for the anti-Social Justice Warriors.
