Margot Robbie and Leonardo DiCaprio to star in new Tarantino film

We are getting closer to re-entering the gory imagination of Quentin Tarantino as a top-tier actor has reportedly joined the cast of his upcoming film about the Manson Family murders of 1969.

Tarantino told IndieWire.com that the film would be more about the era rather than a biopic of Manson. It's a reunion for DiCaprio and Tarantino who last worked together in 2012's bloody western Django Unchained.

Variety said DiCaprio had been in negotiations for months about joining the project. The movie - shrouded in secrecy - is set in 1969 and is believed to involve Charles Manson and the Manson family murders.

It's understood the movie doesn't centre around Manson, but will instead focus on a male TV actor, which DiCaprio is likely to play, who's had one hit series and is looking for a way to get into the film business.

DiCaprio will NOT star as deranged criminal and cult leader Manson, who died at age 83 in November (even though the actor could pull off the look).

The upcoming Manson film will potentially become a star-studded movie, as Margot Robbie, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Samuel L. Jackson and Jennifer Lawrence have reportedly been approached for roles in the film.

Tarantino originally was planning to make the movie with The Weinstein Company, the production company that has produced almost every Tarantino film.

The film, which is going by the working title of #9, is set for release on August 9th 2019, the 50th anniversary of the Tate murders on August 9th 1969.
