Neckbeard Blows Away Mom Over Broken Gaming Headset

Officers in Ceres have arrested a man who allegedly shot and killed his own mother after an argument.

When the victim went to check on Nicholson, the pair began to argue.

Investigators say 28-year-old Matthew Nicholson was alone in his room when he started yelling in an angry rage after losing a video game.

Nicholson's father wrestled the gun away from Nicholson, who got in a auto and drove to a relative's home in Riverbank, police said.

"He came out yelling something about my headset is broken or something about the headset being broken and then grabbed a gun and started shooting", Sgt. Greg Yotsuya said.

Police say he grabbed a nearby handgun that was in the Nicholson home and shot two rounds into the wall, then shot his mother in the head. A long-time friend of the family elaborated, telling FOX40, "I understand that he would've killed the father too, but the gun jammed".

While Loren Nicholson called police at around 9:48 p.m., his son fled the scene and drove to his sister's home in Riverbank, the local news station reported.

"Had so much compassion for people and just wanted to see the best in people at all times", said Autumn Nicholson, the 68-year-old's daughter.

He shot his mother in the head before his 81-year-old father Loren Nicholson wrestled the gun out of his hands, according to police. Officers found the vehicle there, conducted a high-risk traffic stop and took Nicholson into custody.

A fourth bullet struck his mother in the head and killed her.

"My mom was a wonderful person who loved her children", White said.

Nicholson was booked on a homicide charge and is being held in the Stanislaus County Jail without bail.
