Netanyahu to visit Delhi, Mumbai

Launching a scathing attack on the upcoming tour of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, CPI (M) mouthpiece People's Democracy, in an edit published on Thursday, said that he was not welcome in India.

The commitment is in addition to the India-Israel Industrial R&D and Technological Innovation Fund of United States dollars 40 million over five years with equal contribution from both sides that has already been agreed between the two sides, deputy Director General of Israel's Foreign Ministry, Gilad Cohen, told PTI.

The Israeli Prime Minister would be accompanied by a business delegation.

"It does not nullify the fact that with India, with other countries in Latin America and Africa there is a tremendous increase of relations on all fronts", the Israeli Prime Minister noted.

"iCreate" was formally launched in 2011 by Modi when he was the chief minister.

Informed sources in Jerusalem said that this relates to sharing of knowledge in the field of homoeopathy and ayurveda that have been gaining popularity in Israel over the last few years. Netanyahu had personally received Modi at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion airport, an honour previously accorded only to the Pope and the US President. Calling Mr. Netanyahu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi as "ideological soulmates", the edit says: "One represents right-wing ultra Jewish nationalism while the other is an advocate of right-wing Hindutva nationalism". It was decided that both Prime Ministers should exchange visits. He will be visiting Delhi, Agra, Ahmedabad and Mumbai. It comes barely six months after Narendra Modi made history by becoming the first ever Indian prime minister to visit Israel.

They are also likely to visit the Sabarmati Ashram, the abode of Mahatma Gandhi for a long time, here, Rupani said.

In Mumbai, Netanyahu will highlight the importance of fighting terrorism.

The Mumbai leg includes Netanyahu's film industry outreach - Shalom Bollywood, an interaction with the Jewish community and a meeting with business heads.
