Pokemon GO is set to drop support for older devices

In separate news, NDTV Gadgets has recalled that almost a month ago, Pokemon Go developer Niantic has publicized that Apple devices from the iPhone 6s and above will have support for AR+.

A good way to be sure your device is capable of running iOS 11 is to check for an update through the settings menu.

What kinds of things will be involved in AR Plus?

This will have an impact on all models older than iPhone 5 or 5C, so you might want to think about upgrading your handset if catching Pokemon is high on your agenda. The developer announced on its website their plans to stop supporting older iPhones starting on the 28th of February, 2018.

Once it's been released, players on these devices won't be able to access their accounts, use PokeCoins or really any other item in their bags.

As the game continues to evolve and add more features, it won't be long until future iOS updates make current generation phones obsolete.

The older devices will be dropped to accommodate "improvements to Pokémon GO that push the application beyond the capabilities of the operating systems on such devices", Niantic concluded. But then the said improvements are remains to be seen.
