SteelSeries launches Rival 600 mouse for competitive gamers

eSports PC gaming peripherals specialist SteelSeries has launched a new mouse, its first to offer a dual optical sensor system. Just about everything is customizable, from the liftoff distance to the sensitivity of the main 12,000dpi optical sensor.

The Rival 600 also has a variety of physical and technical customization options. If interested, the Rival 600 is now available for purchase from the manufacturer's website and Amazon for $79.99.

The TrueMove3 is a 12,000 CPI, 350 IPS optical sensor that SteelSeries built with sensor industry leader PixArt. The sensor not only tracks lift distance to a greater level of precision (down to 5mm) but lets you customize when tracking begins and ends to match your movements. This eliminates extra movement when gamers pick up and put down their mouse. That feat is accomplished thanks to the second specialized depth-detection sensor that SteelSeries says can detect lift-offs as short as 0.5 mm. However current systems don't track lifted mice so well, which can lead to jerking of the cursor and surprise movements, which is something that the Rival 600 will try to fix with PixArt's sensor.

A customisable weight system allows for 256 different weight and balance configurations, and the mouse sports 60-million-click mechanical switches. Eight weights are included in the box and users can distribute them for the balance they desire.

To achieve its surprisingly light weight of just 96g, every material for the Rival 600 was carefully crafted for functionality, weight reduction and extreme durability. These can increase the Rival 600's weight from the minimum 96 grams all the way to 128 grams.

The overall design of the Rival 600 is an ergonomic right-handed mouse only, and it also employs pure silicone grips and a soft-touch finish. The mouse is powered by a potent 32-bit ARM processor which delivers low-latency performance allowing you to save CPI and lift off sensor settings, custom lighting effects, button key-binds and full macros on-board, which will come in handy for professional gamers, who often need to lug their gear around.

The Rival 600 is the newest member of the Rival family. The Discord and GameSense Engine Apps allow for chat notifications, in-game events, and more.
