The 5 Funniest Moments From The 2018 Golden Globes

We LOVED seeing the majority of stars show up wearing all black in solidarity with the Time's Up movement and all of the courageous women who are making their voices heard. The dress code was mocked as shallow, appearance-obsessed hashtag activism, and also as weirdly misaimed: After three months of relentless and enraging headlines about men abusing women, "Let's change what we wear" sounded to some like victim-blaming, to others like performative emptiness.

Although only one person votes for both the Golden Globe Awards and the Academy Awards - Lisa Lu, a Chinese actress-turned-journalist - it's still reasonable to assume that the results of the 75th Globes, which took place on Sunday evening, will have some impact on the nominations for the 90th Oscars, voting for which began on January 5 and will continue through January 12.

Many celebrities were sporting lapel pins and badges in favour of Time's Up and 50:50, campaigns intent on fighting sexual harassment and gender inequality in the entertainment industry. Harvey Weinstein's wife Georgina Chapman's fashion line was once one of the go-tos for actresses on the red carpet, but this year not a single one chose to wear the brand.

Actresses Reese Witherspoon, Eva Longoria, Salma Hayek and Ashley Judd pose together to show their support. "Nevertheless, I made a decision to wear a colorful dress tonight", she wrote.

On the TV side, global players included Nicole Kidman and Alexander Skarsgard for "Big Little Lies" and Ewan McGregor for his dual role in the latest addition of "Fargo".

"As part of her Indian culture, it's customary to wear a festive colour during a celebration". Answering veteran actor Meryl Streep's call to wear black at the event, a huge chunk of the film and TV fraternity took a stand with this overwhelmingly visible fashion choice.
