Vikings activate Bradford, Bridgewater will reportedly be No. 2

The Vikings activated Bradford from injured reserve on Saturday, adding him to their 53-man roster a day before their NFC divisional playoff game with the Saints.

Bradford missed all but two games during the regular season with a knee injury.

To clear a roster spot, the Vikings waived tight end Kyle Carter.

Though Keenum was slated to be the backup, he took over when Sam Bradford got hurt, then played too well to turn the reins over to Teddy Bridgewater once he got healthy.

Bradford has practiced the past two weeks, but head coach Mike Zimmer said Friday he hasn't made a decision whether the 30-year-old veteran will dress in Sunday's game.

Earlier this week, Zimmer said he knows who his backup quarterback will be when the Vikings host the Saints in the divisional round but chose not to disclose his plan.

If this is true, it's possible that Bradford could suit up as the team's third-string option against New Orleans, but Minnesota has not had three quarterbacks active for a single game since Leslie Frazier was the team's coach in 2013. But now the question is who will back Keenum up.

Bradford hasn't played in a full game since throwing for 346 yards and three touchdowns in the opener against the Saints.

Bradford started in Week 5 at Chicago, but left just before halftime.

Bradford, who was placed on IR on November 8 with a left knee injury, returned to practice last week and completed his fifth practice Friday. "When you have 40 reps in a practice and he gets five and Bridgewater gets five".

"He's getting better, not getting worse, because he's putting more work in and getting more comfortable every week in their system", Belch said. The Vikings were 11-3 in the regular season with Keenum as a starter, and he finished with a 67.6 completion percentage, 3,547 yards, 22 touchdowns, seven interceptions and a passer rating of 98.3.
