WWE Superstar Paige Told She Has to Retire After Neck Injury

According to PWInsider.com, the injury has resulted in WWE officials informing Paige that her in-ring career is finished and she will not be cleared to return to the ring, as her neck issues are now similar to those of Edge, who was also forced to retire early.

But last month the youngest ever Divas Champion suffered a serious injury after a kick by Sasha Banks during a house show at the Nassau Coliseum in NY.

At first fans thought the caption was referring to her initial comeback. Last month on Lilian Garcia's podcast, Paige had commented that her doctor's had warned her after the last neck injury - which kept her out of the ring for over a year - that she should retire and not return. The belief now is that she is finished as an in-ring wrestler.

The injury wasn't initially believed to be terribly serious, and WWE booked her to participate in the women's Royal Rumble later this month. She was signed to WWE's developmental promotion Florida Championship Wrestling back in 2011, became the first NXT Women's Champion in 2012 and won her first of two Divas Championships on her first night on Raw back in 2014.

Banks either hit her wrong with a dropkick to the back or Paige wasn't prepared for the move.

The Norfolk hero made her long-awaited return to WWE after a year's absence in November and formed the daunting trio of Absolution alongside Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville. Paige was down for a few minutes and a stretcher was eventually brought out from the back. She would hold the Divas championship twice. WWE management likes her and is likely to continue to involve her somehow.

It's being said the company wants to keep her in a non-wrestling role much like Daniel Bryan now is the GM of Smackdown Live.
