Akshay Kumar Padman film banned in Pakistan

Akshay Kumar Padman film banned in Pakistan

PadMan is based on the real life story of Arunachalam Muruganantham's journey to make affordable sanitary napkins.

But, the Akshay Kumar's film didn't see the light in neighboring nation Pakistan as its censor board (Federal Censor Board) denied NOC (No Objection Certificate) for film's release. According to its report, local film producers are also of the same opinion.

The much awaited film starring Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte is about to finish its first weekend and the results are not at all disappointing. They refused to have anything to do with it, arguing that such films threaten Islamic culture and history. They were not approving of Padmaavat as well.

The ban on the release of the film PadMan comes as a shock to the Pakistani audience.

A source from Pakistan says Pad Man was being served up an example of the country's censorial austerity.

But Pakistan Censor Board chief Mobashir Hasan has said the decision on NOC was yet to be taken as the film had not yet been "pre-viewed by the Central Board of Film Censors". "We can't allow the screening of films on taboo subjects in our cinemas as it is not in our culture, society or even religion", a member said. What stupid people sitting at Censor Board!

The film is inspired by the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a social activist from Tamil Nadu who introduced low-priced sanitary pads to villages in India.

For the makers [Akshay, KriArj, Sony], this Balki directed film is a success and what needs to be seen now is how big does it turn out to be eventually. In 2011, The Dirty Picture (2011) and Delhi Belly (2011) were banned for adult content. His Khiladi 786 (2012) was released as Khiladi discarding 786 which is the total value of letters of Bismillash al-Rahman al-Rahim.
