British PM calls for new security treaty with EU

"But I don't want throw security considerations in the same pot as trade policy issues".

"Even after the UK's exit from the European Union, close co-operation and cross-border information-sharing must be taken forward on themes such as global terrorism, illegal migration, proliferation and cyber attacks", they said in the statement posted on the German BND intelligence agency's website.

Last March, UK Prime Minister Theresa May officially invoked Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, launching the process of the country's withdrawal from the EU. "The security alliance is going to keep it, but it can not be mixed with or Brexit-related issues".

As part of her trip to Germany, Mrs May held talks with Angela Merkel in Berlin on Friday.

'We are leaving the European Union, ' she said.

"It looks like the British economy is already suffering its effect with higher inflation, lower consumer spending, in particular around the Christmas trading period, and growth rates well below other developed economies", Carlo Bosco, managing director of Greenhill investment bank, said in the European Distressed Debt Market Outlook 2018 report, released by analysis firm Debtwire Wednesday.

The PM will also point out that the United Kingdom is one of the biggest contributors of data, intelligence and expertise to Europol and, through the Schengen Information System II, the United Kingdom is contributing to the sharing of real-time data on wanted criminals or suspected terrorists - issuing over 13,000 hits on people and objects of interest to law enforcement across Europe in the previous year alone.

She said there is "no existing security agreement that captures the full depth and breadth for a new relationship", but added there are cases of agreements on areas like trade with non-EU countries.

Some in the MSC hall said that May wanted to have her cake and eat it. May even mentioned "unconditional interest" and respect for any European Court of Justice decision on issues covered by the agreement.

Calling for political will to strike a separate agreement, Mrs May called for statesmanship in forging her proposed unique arrangements.

"For this, what we need is a permanent exchange because we sometimes don't know how our opposite member is seeing things and I think that this is a very candid exchange that we've had, we need to have further exchanges but frustration doesn't at all describe it appropriately".

"As internal and external secury become more and more intwined, with hostile networks no longer only outed in state-based agression, and weapons designed not just to be deployed on the battlefield, but through cyberspace, so our ability to keep our people safe depends evermore on working together", she said.

A Government spokesman said: "We set out our two preferred models in our Customs Future Partnership paper".

When Nick asked Jacob Rees-Mogg if there should be a second referendum on the deal, he responded: "We've had a vote to leave the European Union, so what would the next vote be on?"
