Cambodia Deported Seven Foreigners Because of

Phnom Penh - A Cambodian court official says seven Westerners arrested in January for allegedly posting pornographic photos on social media of themselves engaged in sexually suggestive dancing have been deported.

Police accused the group of "singing and dancing pornographically" after their arrest two weeks ago at a party in a private villa in Siem Reap, the launchpad for visitors heading to Cambodia's famed Angkor Wat temples.

The Brits - along with two Canadians and a man from New Zealand - were granted bail on the basis they did not organise the party and have now been allowed to leave the country, although the charges have not been dropped.

The seven who have left the country received bail because the court accepted that they had not organized the party, but Ouch Sopheaktra said he had no intentions of applying for bail for the three remaining foreigners: a Briton, a Dutch and a Norwegian national.

A court in Siem Reap bail seven people from the group and ordered them to leave Cambodia.

"I admit that they have done something wrong according to morality in Cambodian society but their crimes did not warrant them being charged or put in jail", Sophea said. "We gave them back their passports", he said.

There are still three foreigners, from the UK, Norway and the Netherlands, in prison awaiting trial, Mr Sopheaktra added.

All 10 defendants denied the allegations, saying only that they were wearing "sexy" clothing but were not nude and had not produced pornography.

The town of Siem Reap is the gateway to the ruins of Angkor Wat, Cambodia's main tourist attraction.

Cambodia, a conservative Buddhist country, is a popular destination for tourists backpacking through Southeast Asia.
