Winnipeg had a Tyler Myers' goal 24 seconds into the first period disallowed because of a NY challenge for offside. Vesey returned to the lineup after missing three games with a concussion and picked up his 11th of season when he deflected Brady Skjei's shot after it hit a Jets player.

Players aren't sure exactly who will be left in two weeks once the trade deadline passes, but since management formally announced its plan to rebuild the Rangers have now won two straight, defeating the Jets Sunday, 3-1.

Winnipeg defenceman Dustin Byfuglien appeared to make it 2-2 with 1:22 remaining but his goal was called off because of teammate Mark Scheifele's high stick. He ended a 21-game drought by finishing off a partial breakaway and snuck a wrist shot from the right circle under Hellebuyck's legs with 66 seconds remaining. Michael Grabner added an empty-net goal with 43 second left.

Henrik Lundqvist stopped 34 shots for the Rangers in the opener of a four-game trip.

Nikolaj Ehlers scored just:42 after the Myers non-goal to give Winnipeg a 1-0 lead.

Winnipeg outshot the Rangers 11-6 in the first but the tables turned in the second as NY had the 24-21 shots advantage.

Video replay concluded the Jets were off side preceding the Myers goal after a coaches challenge by the Rangers Alain Vigneault. The Ranger forward skated in alone and fired a shot that just trickled through the five hole on Hellebuyck with only 1:06 to play in the first period. The netminder made a few highlight real stops to secure the victory for NY.

The Jets scored twice in the first 66 seconds, but only one goal counted. Both goaltenders made some big saves, including Hellebuyck diving to stop a Rick Nash shot and Lundqvist turning away a close-in try for Myers.

Winnipeg had two early power plays in the third and Lundqvist was kept busy, making saves on Blake Wheeler and Patrik Laine. Both teams scored in the first period, with goals to bookend the period.
