Rob Gronkowski Seems To Have Had Great Time At Celtics-Clippers Game

The All-Star break has probably come at the ideal time for the Boston Celtics as they're now on a three-game losing streak and are playing their worst basketball of the season so far.

Stevens has consistently noted this season that his team might not be as good as its record has suggested, particularly after an improbable 16-game winning streak at the start of the season - this shortly after losing Gordon Hayward to a fractured ankle on opening night.

Boston leaned heavily on a 33-point haul from Kyrie Irving but it was not enough to stop them from a third straight loss. He was also eight of nine from the free-throw line and had a game-high 13 rebounds.

"Going into All-Star break, I'm thinking about what's happening after", Irving explained. I'm thinking about so many things right now, just from a standpoint of how to be better, because I know what's coming.

The Celtics are second in the Eastern Conference on 40-19, trailing the Toronto Raptors, who crushed the Chicago Bulls 122-98 elsewhere on Thursday.

However the action was overshadowed by a stormy contest which saw the Pelicans' Rajon Rondo and the Lakers' new signing Isaiah Thomas - former team-mates with the Boston Celtics - ejected after a fracas in the first quarter. If we're not even doing that, then we don't have a chance in any game against any team.

"You gotta want it". I'm very fortunate to have that championship pedigree, so I know what that next level looks like. I have to communicate that with our guys. "It's about that time".

The question is whether Stevens will consider bigger changes, including potential tweaks to the starting lineup. Don't expect any major shakeups to the starting five, but Stevens has to figure out a way to get his team back on track.

In comparison, Brad Stevens' team looked exhausted, out of rhythm and short of ideas.

"We're a group that's built what we have so far based on the defensive end", Horford said following Wednesday night's loss. Horford tops in rebounds with 7.8 and in assists with 5.2 per game. They should be somewhere in the middle, inching closer to that elite group, but we're now left wondering how they stack up with the rest of the rest in the East.

Having made so many good decisions in the trade market over the years, and in the summer, in particular, president Danny Ainge may have made a mistake in not bringing in another scoring option to help Irving at the trade deadline.

While this rough patch has been discouraging, all is not lost for the Celtics and there is time to fix this current mess before the playoffs.

The Celtics are hoping to get Marcus Smart back on the court when they open the second half in Detroit on February 23. Redick finished with 14 points despite going two of 12 from behind the arc, but his three-pointer with 4:02 remaining gave the Sixers a 97-94 lead they would not relinquish.
