Does America need the American Idol reboot right now?

Season two finalist and CT resident Kimberley Locke gives us a whole recap. And celebrity judge Katy Perry has found herself in an ongoing property dispute with a group of aging Los Angeles nuns who for some time now have waged a legal battle with the pop star over her purchase of their former convent.

CBS saw many shows return from eight-week breaks, all performing all down in numbers as they attempted to compete against American Idol.

Performing in front of Lionel Richie, meant Julica was performing in front of one of her idols.

The other showcased contestants in NY included Maddie Poppe, who sings "The Muppet Movie" song "Rainbow Connection", and gets three yeses for her "storyteller voice"; and Koby, a 26-year-old musical theater performer from Denver, who belts perhaps the longest, loudest vocal run in "Idol" history.

In the Nashville audition, the judges faced Harper Grace who went viral when she was 11 years old after her performance of the National Anthem was tagged as the worst rendition of the song ever. All three judges agreed to send her to Hollywood.

Also off to Hollywood are Maddie Poppe, 19, who plucks her guitar while reinterpreting Kermit's Muppet Movie classic "Rainbow Connection", and Ron Bultongez, 21, who hails from Plano, Texas by way of the Congo in Africa.

"I've known Ryan now for nearly 16 years". Luke admitted her voice was "easy on the ears", and then Katy boldly added, "You're Top 10". But Richie said that Seacrest is still the anchor that holds the show together.

Tell us how you really feel, Katy Perry! Now 16, this country music singer came into the audition room and performed an original song called "Yard Sale".

For Catie Turner, what really stood out to me was how intriguing of a songwriter she is. The GRAMMY victor got up from the judge's table and walked over to Francisco to give him a hug. Instead, she thought his audition was an imitation, so Katy said he needs more time to develop and it's a "no" from her. You can be sure we'll be closely following her story as well! "We don't have to convince ourselves that this sounds good - it just does", Perry says.
