Fed-up Sean Hannity calls out 'clueless' colleague Shepard Smith over condescending dig

As reported by Mediaite on March 15, Shepard Smith signed a three-year extension with Fox News, and elaborated further on his thoughts about the network during an interview with TIME Magazine.

"They don't really have rules on the opinion side", Smith said in the piece. It did on Friday afternoon, when Hannity said on Twitter that Smith is "clueless" about what the opinion side of the company does - while still calling him a "friend" who is "great at breaking news".

Fox News programming and talent breaks down into two camps: news shows anchored by the likes of Bret Baier, Shepard Smith and Chris Wallace, and opinion shows hosted by talent like Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham and Tucker Carlson. He also dinged the network's opinion shows by saying they don't "really have rules" and exist "strictly to be entertaining." . Speaking about Sean Hannity, whose eponymous show was the best performing television news program last month, Smith said, "We serve different masters". "I wouldn't work there", he continued.

Smith, who was one of the network's original hires in 1996, has been one of the few Fox employees to stray from the company line, including contradicting President Trump's claims that the investigation into possible Russian interference in the 2016 election was a Democratic "hoax". "I don't want to sit around and yell at each other and talk about your philosophy and my philosophy".

"We work for different reporting chains, we have different rules", he said. "You don't talk about your money, you don't talk about your politics, and you don't talk about your s*x", Smith continued, saying, "that sounds terrible to me".

On the #Fox News Channel, it's become common knowledge that the overwhelming majority of the reporting has a conservative political bias.
