New Splinter Cell game spotted online ahead of official announcement

The series has been stopped since 2013, the year of the release of Splinter Cell Blacklist, a title received warmly by the public and critics, unable to achieve the commercial success of previous episodes.

The product was listed without a release date, platforms, or box art, so it's entirely possible it was a speculative placeholder listing by Amazon. Once compared to the mighty protagonist of Metal Gear Solid, it seems that an Amazon listing has hinted at a Splinter Cell 2018 game. The new revelation expects us to believe that a new Splinter Cell game may be announced soon.

In addition, a Reddit User has shared an image in which we can see how the game's Item Model number is "E3TomClancy'sSplinterCell2018_PC" so Ubisoft's intentions would be to present the game at the Los Angeles fair.

It sounds like dodgy PR speak, perhaps, but I think we can probably take this to mean that a new Splinter Cell game was, and is, in the works.

"I can't say much about that".

While the title does have a very suspicious name, it is indeed Ubisoft that has put the game for listing on the website since clicking on their name does take you to their latest offerings such as Far Cry 5 and the such. "It's just that we have a lot on our plate at the moment and The Division continues to be played and Rainbow Six too".

It would make sense for Ubisoft to try and resurrect the dormant franchise since we have never seen a Splinter Cell game get released for the PS4 and Xbox One generation. Hopefully Sam Fisher is still the main character and Ubisoft is able to bring back Michael Ironside as the voice actor.

Also during E3 2017, Ubisoft Montreal CEO Yannis Mallat hinted that the company was looking into the possibility of reviving the Splinter Cell series.
