These Are the Ford Fiesta ST Upgrades We'll Never Get

Ford has shed more light on the new Fiesta ST hot hatch ahead of its European launch.

But now we know the new Fiesta has more to offer too. Largely responsible for these numbers is Ford's all-new 1.5-liter EcoBoost three-cylinder engine that delivers 200 metric horsepower (197 bhp) at 6,000 rpm and 290 Nm (214 lb-ft) of torque from 1,600 to 4,000 rpm.

The 2018 Ford Fiesta ST - the performance take on Ford's latest Fiesta - will soon start arriving in the United Kingdom, complete with options like a Quaife LSD and Launch Control.

Ford's new Fiesta ST hot-hatch will emit around 125g/km of Carbon dioxide when it is launched: a reduction of 11% compared to the previous generation ST200, according to Ford data.

Ford has also worked on how the vehicle performance on the road and added a number of new systems and features to facilitate this.

Working alongside the ST's torque vectoring control - which helps to reduce understeer by applying the brakes while cornering - the optional Quaife limited slip-differential would improve cornering ability by diverting the power to the front wheel with more grip, ensuring a crisper turn-in.

The ST will be available from launch in three-door and five-door bodystyles with sporty ST exterior styling and standard 17-inch or optional 18-inch alloy wheels.

The previous generation hot supermini was widely regarded by the motoring press to be one of the best affordable drivers' cars on the market while on sale between 2013 and 2017, so the updated version has been eagerly anticipated - and Ford is clearly not pulling any punches when it comes to surpassing the old model.

The vehicle is available in both three-door and five-door bodystyles with sporty ST exterior styling and standard 17-inch or optional 18-inch alloy wheels.

Inside the vehicle a SYNC 3 communications and entertainment system with 6.5-inch screen or optional 8-inch screen will enable Fiesta ST drivers to control audio, navigation and connected smartphones using simple, conversational voice commands, comes as standard.

Standard driver assistance technologies include lane keeping aid, lane keeping alert and cruise control with adjustable speed limiter, while features including rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, auto-highbeam and traffic sign recognition also are available.
