Apple Launches Battery Replacement Program For Some 13-inch MacBook Pros

It is actually the launch of free battery replacement program announced worldwide by Apple on April 20 after repeated complaints of flaws its high-end laptop 13-inch MacBook Pro (non Touch Bar model) and the service may take 3 to 5 days. Apple explained that the expanding battery is caused due to a component failure, but the company did not elaborate. The company has also said that, "If your 13-inch MacBook Pro has any damage which impairs the replacement of the battery, that issue will need to be resolved prior to the battery replacement".

However, Apple refused to reveal the actual no. of affected laptops and assured that the move is not concerning safety issues. The affected models were manufactured between October 2016 and October 2017. You can use the serial number checker at the link below to see if your device qualifies for this program. If your device is eligible Apple will replace your battery for free. Alternatively, users can go to Apple menu About This Mac and copy the serial number.

This is not the first time Apple has been embroiled in a battery-related issue for its products. You will have to find your nearest Apple Authorised Service Provider or make an appointment at the nearest Apple Retail Store or send the laptop to the nearest Apple Repair Centre.

This program is valid for 5 years from the release of the 13-inch MacBook Pro without Touch Bar, so you've got a couple of years left to take advantage of it if you haven't done so already. You will need to get in touch with Apple Support for that. Apple has requested customers who are getting their batteries replaced to backup their machines well in advance.
