Rare reveals their future Content plan for Sea of Thieves

It's no secret that Sea of Thieves, despite plenty of hype, shivered very few timbers on launch. The game's issues are different then most other games it looks good, it doesn't have a pay to win system, but one of the big problems is the progression system.

Mose of the fans of the game have shared that although the game is super great, there is not enough to do, apparently, you can only dig up so many treasures on a single island. All items that can be purchased are cosmetic items. Players pointed to a lack of content as the biggest issue, something developer Rare has made a decision to tackle head-on in its latest community update.

It feels generous to call Rare's plans a roadmap as they are pretty vague, but whatever you call them, this is Rare's response to criticism that its open world pirate game is comically empty. The Hungering Deep will be released sometime in May.

Rare also promised "within existing Trading Companies, introducing new ways to play", which suggests the studio is adding a new mission type to the three already in the game.

The idea is to reward players for teaming up to take on the new enemy, which, once the event ends, be added to the world "permanently". Beyond this, we will begin our weekly events programme during May, where we introduce new mechanics and give players fun new ways to play with weekly events and rewards. During the summer, the new Cursed Sails event will debut bringing with it a new ship type, and the Forsaken Shores content update will introduce a new world for players to explore. Similarly to The Hungering Deep, both of these updates will also include new gameplay mechanics for players, new AI threats to challenge and new unique rewards to claim.
