Top 14 side Clermont respond to Paddy Jackson rumours

Ulster Rugby fans are considering five options as a response to the sackings of Paddy Jackson and Stuart Olding over the weekend.

However, over the revelations of lewd text exchanges revealed during the trial the IRFU and Ulster, following an internal review, revoked the pair's contracts saying in coming to the decision they acknowledged their "commitment to the core values of the game - respect, exclusivity and integrity".

On Monday, Mr Logan told UTV the whole experience had been "traumatic" for Ulster Rugby's players, staff and fans.

Ulster and Ireland teammates Jackson and Olding were found not guilty of all charges against them.

Asked about their chances of appearing for Ireland, he said: "The position is joint".

In response, the Ulster Rugby Supporters Club (URSC) said some members would consider not attending games if the pair were dismissed, while others posted messages on web forums calling for organised walk-outs and various other protests in support of the two players.

The statement goes on to say: "We would encourage as many members as possible to respond to help the committee accurately reflect the feelings of URSC members and act accordingly".

Logan added it would be "completely inappropriate" for him to comment on the terms of the financial settlement reached between the players and the unions but did admit that the decision to cancel the contracts was partially based on information that is not in the public domain.

Both Jackson and Olding have expressed regret and admitted their behaviour fell short of what was expected of them.

Clermont Auvergne has denied making an approach to sign former Ulster fly-half Paddy Jackson.

"We get linked to lots of players, but it's nothing to do with us really".

"The Irish out-half will not come", head coach Franck Azéma told the club's website.

"I trust our workforce in this position where we do not lack resources with Camille Lopez, Patricio Fernandez, Ice Toeava and Dorian Lavernhe who continues to progress and whom we trust".
