TV presenter Ant McPartlin learns fate

McPartlin, who lives in Chiswick, west London, was arrested at around 4pm on March 18th after a failing a roadside breathalyser test in Richmond, west London, following a collision between the Mini he was driving and two other cars.

Ant's driving ban could be reduced to 15 months, provided he completes a referral programme by the middle of May next year.

When he was breathalysed by police he was found to have 75mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath - the legal limit is 35 mcg.

Inside the court, as she handed down her sentence, District Judge told McPartlin: "You were a man of good character...you have lost that good character".

Standing in the dock, Ant spoke to confirm his name, date of birth, address and nationality before pleading guilty to a single charge of drink-driving.

As well as the huge fine, Ant will pay pay £255 in costs.

His defence barrister, Liam Walker, told the court: "Anthony McPartlin is sorry".

Nobody was seriously injured however a child passenger from one of the other cars was taken to hospital to be checked as a precaution.

He continued: "He is doing everything he can so this never happens again". He also said that he felt "ashamed and mortified" for what he'd done. He said, "I accept full culpability for this and wish to apologise to all those concerned".

His co-host Declan Donnelly has hosted the remaining episodes of the latest series of Saturday Night Takeaway, and will also host the live stages of Britain's Got Talent on his own.

He has now stepped down from his role as a host on Saturday Night Takeaway and Britain's Got Talent which have been hosted by his TV partner and close friend Declan Donnelly.
