Buhari approves N10bn for rehabilitation of Benue communities

Yemi Osinbajo has said that he can not trade his Christian faith with anything, not even for the present political position he occupies as President Muhammadu Buhari's deputy.

It will be recalled that vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, paid a visit to Benue state to assess the situation of the state, particularly the displacement of the people.

He will also hold a meeting with various stakeholders. As a matter of fact, I am also a priest and I'm a Christian, a born again Christian.

Responding, the vice-president said, "My Lord Bishop, you said you are not a politician, I am also not a politician". Because I am a born again Christian, my destiny is not determined by any man but by God who I serve.

"While assuring the displaced persons that their joy has come, the vice president quoted the Bible by saying, 'when weeping endures for a night, joy comet in the morning, let me assure you that your morning has come and your joy has come". Even the position that I now occupy, I did not ask for it and I'm prepared to leave it at a short notice.

"I became a born again Christian after I became a professor, a professor of the law of evidence, a professor of proof".

Earlier, the Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Emmanuel Shior, informed the Vice President that a total of 175,070 people comprising of 80,450 children were inhabiting eight designated camps across the state while an ongoing data collection was being carried out to determine the actual numbers of displaced people taking shelter in places other than the approved camps. Certainly, it can not be for a person who is born again.

I thank the government and people of Benue and other affected States for their understanding and continued support, as we work together to restore peace and security to all troubled areas.

He continued: "Mr. President says I should ensure all these things are done". But we cannot bring back the dead but we can make life more bearable for the living.

The Vice President said there was no question at all that when people are killed in the way people have been killed, whether in churches or mosques or where ever by herdsmen or someone else is justified.According to him, it is the business of government to ensure that there is security for the people.

He appreciated the Federal Government for deploying more troops to the state as well as releasing funds for control of flood in the state.
