Iran to stay in nuclear deal if it is beneficial: Rouhani

We are sorry that some Arab countries of the region are silent towards the recent crimes of the Zionists and some Islamic countries have simply turned a blind eye to these incidents, and some others have regarded it as [Israel's] self-defense right, while legitimate self-defense belongs to people who own the land not to those who have taken lands by usurpation.

On Monday, the opening ceremony of the new United States embassy in Jerusalem took place amid mass violent clashes on the border with the Gaza Strip, where more than 60 Palestinians were killed and another 2,500 injured by Israeli forces. "Therefore, legitimate self-defense of Zionists in this land is meaningless".

However, "the Palestinians will not give up resistance, as they have not ceased it over the past seven decades", he said.

The inauguration ceremony for the American embassy was purposely chosen to coincide with the anniversary of the day Israel was created after a deadly war against Arab nations in 1948.

"The Palestinian people have resisted [Israeli aggression] for 70 years, and will continue to do so", Rouhani said.

"Today, Iranophobia, which they have been spreading to convince the world through false propaganda that Iran is threat, has given its place to Trumpophobia", Rouhani said, speaking at a government meeting.

"Trump played his first card, but miscalculated the second move... as Iran did not follow that plan", Rouhani said according to the Iranian agency.

Iran's President Hassan Rouhani called for imposing pressure on the United States for violating the nuclear deal reached between Tehran and the six world powers in 2015.

Under the accord struck between Iran and six other nations including the United States under Trump's predecessor Barack Obama, Tehran agreed to curb its nuclear activities in exchange for the lifting of crippling economic sanctions.

Rouhani finally said some assume that pressure, sanctions and military threats can force the Iranian nation to surrender.
