Legendary Diego Maradona to head FC Dynamo Brest

Having had his contract terminated by UAE second division side Al-Fujairah, it was quickly reported - and then denied - that El Diego had been reinstated days later.

"Yes, Diego's with us!" the club wrote on its official Twitter account late Tuesday, following media rumours over the weekend.

Brest are looking to challenge the dominance of BATE Borisov, winners of the last 12 league titles, and will be hoping Maradona can work some magic in helping the club to the top of the table.

"Thanks for the trust".

"I signed the contract and I am the president of Dinamo Brest".

It is quite interesting that the football club was founded in the year when Diego Maradona was born. At Dynamo Brest, he will deal with strategic development and follow the development of youth football.

He will assume his duties after the end of the world Cup, which will start soon in Russian Federation.

Brest, who won the Belarusian Cup previous year and its Super Cup in March, said Maradona will be officially introduced as chairman at Emirates Palace hotel in Abu Dhabi. He had previously managed Al Wasl, but was dismissed in July 2012, midway through a two-year contract.
