Rangers Confirm Allan McGregor Signing

Assuming Rangers go on and complete the deal to keep Murphy permanently there is the makings of a significantly stronger squad at Ibrox moving forward, after the arrivals of Scott Arfield and Allan McGregor which have already been announced.

He was named Hull City's player of the year this season but chose to turn down the offer of an extension with the English Championship club.

The former Light Blues goalkeeper is out of contract and has knocked back Tigers boss Nigel Adkins' offer of a new deal.

"I can't keep the smile off my face", McGregor added.

The 31-year-old is now thought to be interested in reuniting with Gerrard at Ibrox, but with Lazio reluctant to sell, it may be hard for Rangers to secure his signature this summer.

"I started training here when I was 12 years old and used to come through the main stand maybe twice a week", said McGregor.

The 38-cap Scotland worldwide won three league titles, a hat-trick of Scottish Cups and five League Cup titles during his first Rangers stint.

He racked up nearly 150 appearances for the Tigers during his five years at Hull.

The 28-year-old made a big impression after his arrival at Ibrox, going on to play 20 times for the Gers as they managed to secure third spot in the Scottish Premiership. "We need to win games, it doesn't matter who you're playing, every game is an opportunity for three points".
