The ultimate HTC U12+ leak leaves no question answered

The ultimate HTC U12+ leak leaves no question answered

Blass followed up by tweeting the HTC U12+'s spec sheet, outlining nearly every detail about the upcoming device.

Slightly shorter and narrower but thicker than the U11+, the HTC U12+ retains its predecessor's 6-inch Quad HD+ Super LCD 6 panel with a 2:1 aspect ratio, also weighing a somewhat bulky 188 grams. This confirms everything we already knew about HTC's next flagship phone, adding plenty of nuance to a few partially mysterious features, and filling in all the blanks. Interestingly, from the images, it appears that there is a translucent variant coming, that shows the internal hardware of the phone. That squares with previous leaks. There is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor under the hood, with 6GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB of built-in storage (depending on region). There will be a microSD card slot (compatible up to 2TB cards) for storage expansion. It will reportedly feature a 12-megapixel sensor with wide-angle lens, and a 16-megapixel secondary sensor with a telephoto lens for 2X zoom and bokeh mode. HTC's press materials also tout phase detection coupled with laser autofocus, so expect HTC to talk about sharper photos when the U12+ is unveiled. Around front, there are a pair of 8MP cameras. The announcement is scheduled to take place at 4PM (according to the embargo on the specs sheet) next week, so we'll find out how much the phone costs then. That may be a detail we'll have to wait until next week to hear about. Ahead of its 23 May event, The full spec sheet and official images have surfaced thanks to serial leakster Evan Blass and Roland Quandt. On the software side of things, the phone is listed as running Android 8.1 Oreo, but it's also labeled as being upgradeable to Android P.
