The US to India - Via Iceland!

WOW Air is expanding to Asia, launching routes from nine different US cities to Delhi, India, via Iceland, with fares starting at $199 one-way.

Meanwhile those in the USA can fly from Newark, Boston, Baltimore, Chicago O'Hare, Pittsburgh, Detroit, San Francisco, Los Angeles and St. Louis. WOW Air founder and CEO Skuli Mogensen is looking to create a network of 14-15 eastern destinations to balance its transatlantic presence. One-way fares will start at $199 a xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" target="_blank" href="https://wowair.us/flights/wow-premium/" rel="nofollow" *WOW premium seats will be available for $699*. "We are targetting the smart traveller", Mogensen said. Just a 200 km road-trip away is the majestic Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

Earlier this year, WOWAir announced it was launching a new route from London Stansted to JFK International via Reykjavik, which began last month.

From Boston (BOS), New York (EWR), Washington D.C. (BWI), Chicago (ORD), Pittsburgh (PIT), Detroit (DTW), San Francisco (SFO), Los Angeles (LAX) and St Louis (STL) to Delhi via Iceland. The special fare is available for travel only from January 10 through March 31 next year when booked with a return trip. The offer applies for 4,200 seats on selected flights, only when booked on a return trip.

Mogensen said that the airline has studied potential new destinations in India and will reveal its future plans to connect them to Iceland and North America within the next 12 months.

Established in November 2011 by Icelandic entrepreneur Skúli Mogensen, the purple airline flies with Airbus A320 aircrafts and Airbus A321/A330 models.

Iceland, he asserted, was an ideal hub for North America-bound flights from India because of its location on the direct flight path, resulting in a shorter distance, reduced fuel burn, less engine usage and lower fares.
