Tom Brady Hit NYC on Sunday with Wife, Kids ... Before Patriots OTAs

NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reported that Brady was "unlikely" to attend, though he could call an audible surprise everyone by showing up. This is what's considered phase 3 of the offseason program and Brady has already missed out on phase 1 and 2.

Kenny Britt - After joining the Patriots last December, the 6-foot-3, 223-pound Britt played in three games but had to develop a rapport with Brady on the fly. Even if Brady attends that he will have missed a significant portion of the offseason program. Gronkowski's contract is reportedly "still an issue", according to Rapoport, but no reports indicate that Brady has a similar problem.

According to Pro Football Talk, Rob Gronkowski wasn't at the start of OTAs, but the tight end plans to practice with the team at some point before minicamp, which runs June 5-7. This is another reason why it's important for Brady to attend because if he doesn't, he's missing out on valuable time to make connections with his receivers, especially the newcomers. Julian Edelman and Brady have a mind meld going, but Edelman is coming back from a torn ACL.

Phillip Dorsett - The speedy 2015 first-round pick has had a solid offseason after joining the team in a September 2017 trade, which is critical for him because last season, like Britt, he had to jump into the mix without the foundation of an offseason to learn the system. After all, the Patriots' playbook isn't the easiest to learn for new receivers and getting on the same page has Brady has also been a challenge for those first-timers in Foxboro.

Brady, 40, has skipped all of the Patriots' offseason workouts so far. Brady, meanwhile, has stayed away from Gillette Stadium due to focusing on his family.

Jordan Matthews - The 2014 second-round pick who has 250 career regular-season receptions made a decision to sign a modest one-year deal with the Patriots this offseason, and one of the primary reasons was the chance to catch passes from Brady after a challenging season in Buffalo in which he battled some injuries (25 receptions).

Speaking with moderator Jim Gray at the Milken Institute Global Conference in Santa Monica in April, Brady reaffirmed his stated desire to play for several more years.

"Part of this offseason for me is certainly about still preparing for what's ahead in my next journey, my next mountain to climb with this group of teammates", Brady said. My kids are 10, 8 and 5. "But I am told he is expected to be at mandatory minicamp".
