Anthony Martial wants to leave Manchester United says agent

Arsenal target Anthony Martial has told Manchester United that he wants to leave the club this summer, according to his agent.

And while Martial's agent Philippe Lamboley assures that United are keen to keep him at the club, he feels the time is right for a change.

"After thinking about all the factors and possibilities, Anthony wants to leave Manchester United", Lamboley told French news outlet RMC Sport.

"There are a lot reason, for the moment it is too early to talk about it. Anthony will speak later on to talk about that", he added.

Lamboley went on to explain that contract negotiations had been going on for eight months but no agreement could be reached, which the agent deduced that if they could "not find an agreement in eight months of negotiations, it is that it does not really want to make [Martial] an important player in its workforce". That's why this decision has come - it's a well-thought-out decision.

When given the opportunity, Martial has shown on several occasions that he's capable of feats of brilliance but he's had to settle for a bit-part role at Old Trafford in recent seasons and the January arrival of Alexis Sanchez did nothing to remedy that problem. He was left out of France's World Cup squad after making only four Premier League appearances after February.

Tottenham are also interested, and Martial has intimated that he would be prepared to move to White Hart Lane, though United would rather he was sold overseas.

Martial is under contract for next season and the United also have the option for the 2019-20 season. "We will respect the club's decision and he will stick with his commitment to the end".

Martial joined United in 2015 when he signed as a relative unknown from Monaco for an initial £36m fee. "Without the great support from the fans, he would have already asked to leave the club". It is important to remember that this season he scored 11 goals and gave 10 assists in five months.

"Everyone will have their opinion but I think he needs to resume his career".

And, if the Portuguese coach can land either Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale or Chelsea star Willian, he is happy to green light Martial's sale.
