Dana White Meeting With Conor McGregor Next Week About UFC Future

McGregor commented on the court date via social media, noting that he is going to be flying out to NY to face the charges on Tuesday, ahead of the court date on Thursday.

If the former New York prosecutors are correct, McGregor would be legally eligible to return to the Octagon in late 2018, which of course, would make the highly-anticipated showdown against UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov a possibility if negotiations are successful.

UFC president Dana White and superstar Conor McGregor were supposed to have already had their first face-to-face meeting since the Irishman unloaded on a van full of fighters at UFC 223 in Brooklyn, N.Y., in early April. After the event, White said he planned to meet with McGregor in Las Vegas but didn't specify a date. While he did box Floyd Mayweather last August, McGregor hasn't defended either of his UFC titles he earned nor has he fought in the octagon nearly two years.

Whether or not McGregor will fight again remains anybody's guess, though recent posts on social media suggest he's actively training.

McGregor will be in court Thursday to answer to multiple charges stemming from the videotaped rampage, resulting in three charges of assault and one count of criminal mischief. McGregor is reportedly working on a plea deal that could see him avoid jail time.

White isn't sure what to expect. I don't know whats gonna happen. "I'm pretty confident [a lightweight title fight] is a fight that Conor wants, and I'm pretty confident that is a fight Khabib wants". White maintains that he has had no involvement in how the legal proceedings in McGregor's case have played out, adding, "Whatever happens tomorrow, I will be as shocked as you".
