Here's the First Teaser Trailer for Tim Burton's 'Dumbo'

Tim Burton is the ideal choice. And that's good. Burton takes Dumbo to the turn of the 20th century, dousing the film with Gilded Age aesthetics and callbacks to the era of traveling circuses.

More than 70 years after the original movie, "Dumbo" will return to theaters next year in a live-action remake.

Following the Oscar-winning Jungle Book and arriving before the forthcoming Lion King reboot, the next Disney animated classic to get the CG-enhanced live-action treatment is the 1941 tale of a flying elephant. It's also a surprising departure for Burton, whose name has become synonymous with a Gothic flair and kabuki-mask faces. Once the elephant reveals he can fly, the circus owner concocts a plan to make the circus rich. Eva Green, Michael Keaton, and Alan Arkin co-star. But Dumbo has a unique ability that soon garners the attention of the greedy entrepreneur - and obvious P.T. Barnum stand-in - V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton).

Directed by Tim Burton, whose previous work with Disney includes The Nightmare Before Christmas and Frankenweenie, Dumbo is about a sad circus elephant who gets picked on for having very big ears; also, his only friend is a mouse, he gets drunk and sees terrifying pink elephants, and Mama Dumbo sings maybe the saddest song in the Disney canon to her son, "Baby Mine". The screenplay of Dumbo is written by Ehren Kruger.

Dumbo is scheduled to be released on Friday, 29 March 2019.

Farrell, 42, plays Holt Farrier, seen above in an exclusive first look with Eva Green, who plays aerial acrobat Colette Marchant.
