Raccoon scales Minnesota office tower, gets stuck on ledge

Several downtown Twitter users snapped photos Monday of the raccoon stranded on a second-story ledge by the Seventh Street Skyway near Cedar Street.

Looking like a smaller, hairier version of Spiderman, the raccoon was able to scale nearly the entire building, finally stopping to rest outside the Paige Donnelly Law Firm on the 23rd floor. But rather than find safety elsewhere, it jumped over to the UBS tower, one of the largest skyscrapers in the city, where it has been scaling the building all day, and, at the time of writing, was over 200ft above the ground.

The raccoon has now made its way 23 stories up the exterior of the UBS Financial Services building.

A Minnesota radio station branded the raccoon with the hashtag #mprraccoon.

Building maintenance got it off the ledge on Tuesday morning, but rather than heading down, the raccoon started scaling the building next door.

"This raccoon has to rescue itself", Nelson said.

Would you be this relaxed after climbing 21 stories up the outside of an office tower? "We didn't see it and thought, 'It went away - that's great!'" Laurie Brickley told the publication.

Evan Frost, also of MPR News, tweeted the raccoon got a visit from the St. Paul Fire Department, and that cat food has been placed on the roof of the building.
