Wetherspoon is going through some dramatic changes because of Brexit

JD Wetherspoon is to ditch French champagne and German wheat beers in favour of United Kingdom and non-EU products in the run-up to Brexit.

I've never personally bought Champagne in Wetherspoons and probably never will now as Moët & Chandon champagne is being swapped with sparkling wines from the United Kingdom and Australia.

Mr Martin claimed the move would help Wetherspoons "broaden our horizons", hitting out at the EU's "protectionist" customs union.

"This will not be possible if we remain in the EU's customs union".

"Tariffs are imposed on wine from Australia, New Zealand and the USA, and also on coffee, oranges, rice and more than 12,000 other products". Wetherspoon's will honour contracts with several suppliers, some of which last for years. Most of our media is owned by a handful of offshore billionaires with personal agendas.

Wetherspoon will continue to serve Kopparberg cider from Sweden.

With French Champagne off the menu, Wetherspoon's customers seeking a glass of bubbly will be offered Denbies Sparkling Whitedowns Brut and Whitedowns Rose Brut as well as Hardys Sparkling Pinot Chardonnay, from Australia.

Alcohol-free Adnams Ghost Ship brewed in Suffolk will replace the German-made alcohol-free beer from Erdinger.

Sparkling wines from the United Kingdom will include Denbies Sparkling Whitedowns Brut and Whitedowns Rose Brut, as well as Hardys Sparkling Pinot Chardonnay from Australia. Kopparberg has confirmed that it will be producing its cider in the United Kingdom post-Brexit.

The firm's founder, Tim Martin, was a strong supporter of Brexit and will now be moving his pubs towards non-European Union sparkling wines and beers. If there's only one pub or supermarket in town, you'll pay over the odds. A "no-deal" alternative would leave the United Kingdom much better off than it is today'.

Nigel Farage, former UKIP leader and the public face of Leave.EU, praised Martin's decision ahead of what some are calling the United Kingdom economy's anticipated "Brexit Boom" as a result of retailers turning more to home-grown products.
