In the world of hip-hop and reggae music in particular, bashing gays verbally has long been accepted and such songs have become a staple on the song list at concerts for performers like Marshal "Eminem" Mathers, Buju Banton, Bounty Killer, and better than a dozen others. Kanye West however has distanced himself from that general attitude and instead made a very conscious decision to embrace the gay community.
