ABOUT Faces of Marriage Equality GALLERY
Same-Sex Couples Deserve Marriage Equality (special notice 7/2011)
This Gallery was created by 10,000 Couples to recognize inspiring gay and lesbian couples (famous or not) from around the globe who are committed to their partners, their lives, their families and their communities. Even though we may sometime face fear, hate, or lack of recognition from some around us, together, we are growing in our own love for each other and our community. Our fight for equality is expanding. Our recognition of equality is expanding. The Faces of Marriage Equality Gallery (formerly 10thousandCouples Inspiring Gallery) is part of that expansion. There is a need for us to be joined. There is need for you to join.

To access the Gallery from the e-magazine, you must be a subscriber to the free e-magazine, 10,000 Couples, and logged in. There are many benefits to membership and here's one: each month we pick couples who are celebrating anniversaries to feature in the e-magazine. Be sure to enroll your couple data before your anniversary.
Inspiring Same-Sex Couples
We all know there are at least 10,000 committed same-sex couples throughout every US state and every country in the world, representing the beauty of our relationships and the sanctity of our love. Won’t you join us?
To be an inspiring couple for the Faces of Marriage Equality Gallery, you must provide some basic information about you and your partner. We also require an actual photo of the couple, so please make sure you have one available to upload. We understand that there are some who for personal or professional reasons are unable to risk exposing their identity. Yet, we believe that as more of us become visible, these risks will diminish. In the meantime, you may distort your photo (fade it, make it grainy, etc.) or use silhouettes or a photo of your joined hands (our personal favorite). But, our mission is too important to omit the photo altogether.
We understand that visibility is difficult for some people, but our invisibility is one of the ways others dismiss us so easily -- supposedly, they "don't know anyone, love anyone, and work with anyone like that." According to one subscriber, "With more visibility, those who discriminate won't be able to do it blindly and pretend they don't know who it is affecting." We agree -- and, thankfully, the Faces of Marriage Equality Gallery is growing every day, as is our e-magazine's subscriber email list of people who represent us and support us.
Now, if you have a ceremony in the works, just returned from your honeymoon, or just decided to share your story from long ago, we would be thrilled to post it here. Please contact us with the response form and we'll take it from there.
When I first stumbled upon 10,000 Couples, my first thought was “why didn’t someone think of this sooner”. Every day, all around the world, our opposition tries to pretend that committed, loving, long-term couples do not exist in the gay community (with some even asserting that it is not even possible). But we DO exist. Even though it is not legal in our home state of North Carolina, my husband and I flew to California because we wanted those around us to finally understand our commitment to each other…we are married. Just like ANY other married couple, regardless of gender. And although 10,000 couples sounds like an ambitious goal, I know there are even more than 10,000 of us out there. The world needs to finally understand that we are far more common than our opposition wants to admit. - Ken & Terry 11/2010
